Bangladesh Navy Ship ‘Protyayo’ leaves Chittagong to participate in International Fleet Review

Chittagong, 20 November 2025: Bangladesh Navy Ship ‘Protyayo’ left Chittagong today, Thursday (20-11-2025) to participate in the ‘International Fleet Review’ to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 27 to 30 November 2025 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Sri Lankan Navy. While leaving Chittagong, the ship was officially bid farewell by performing musical instruments by a well-equipped band according to the traditional customs of the Navy. Commander Chittagong Naval Region Rear Admiral Md. Moinul Hasan was present as the chief guest and gave a guiding speech to the officers and sailors boarding the ship. Local senior naval officers and the families of the officers and sailors boarding the ship were present at the time.
High-level representatives, observers, military experts and naval ships from different countries of the world will participate in the ‘International Fleet Review’. A total of 150 naval personnel, including 29 officers, led by Captain Touhidul Haque Bhuiyan, the commander of the Bangladesh Navy ship ‘Protya’, will participate in the International Fleet Review. It will be an important milestone in developing diplomatic relations between the participating countries, preventing various criminal activities including piracy, drug and smuggling, human trafficking and illegal fishing at sea, as well as strengthening global cooperation in humanitarian assistance and disaster management. In the past years, the Bangladesh Navy has demonstrated professionalism and expertise by participating in the ‘International Fleet Review’ of different countries, which has brightened the image of the Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh to the outside world. The Bangladesh Navy has established itself as a symbol of regional solidarity by regularly conducting various international exercises, training and joint operations with friendly countries. This visit will strengthen friendly and regional maritime security diplomatic relations between the participating countries, including Bangladesh, and improve the professional standards of naval personnel. It is expected that the ship will return to Chittagong on December 5, 2025, after the completion of the ‘International Fleet Review’.
