A meeting of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) delegation was held with CID Chief Additional IGP Mr. Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, BPM-Seba on 31 March 2026 at CID Headquarters, Dhaka.<\/p>\n
The UNODC delegation was attended by Mr. Marcus Vinicius Paes, Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer (Law Enforcement Expert), Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Section; Ms. Marika McAdam, International Consultant; and Ms. Tasneem Binta Karim, National Programme Coordinator.<\/p>\n
The meeting discussed in detail the emerging trend of online scams conducted by criminal gangs involved in human trafficking and labor exploitation, especially in the South-East Asia region. Participants noted that transnational organized crime groups are increasingly using digital platforms to conduct human trafficking and other criminal activities.<\/p>\n
The CID Chief appreciated UNODC\u2019s continued support in strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation between law enforcement agencies in Bangladesh and at the regional level. He emphasized the need for a coordinated and effective response system to address the changing and more complex transnational organized crime.<\/p>\n
The meeting also had fruitful discussions on future trends, emerging threats and the need to enhance mutual cooperation, strengthen intelligence sharing and expand capacity building activities to address these challenges.<\/p>\n
