Police raid in Hathazari: Weapons manufacturing factory found under the cover of CNG workshop

The current government has directed the current administration to play a very effective role in eradicating criminal activities and identifying criminals and establishing a crime-free state. In the wake of the raid against criminals, a raid was conducted in Hathazari, Chittagong.
5 firearms including a domestic pen gun and 20 rounds of bullets were recovered; 2 members of the arms supplier gang were arrested.
The Hathazari Thana police have found a weapons manufacturing factory that has been operating for a long time under the cover of a CNG auto-rickshaw workshop in Hathazari, Chittagong. In a series of raids conducted based on intelligence information, 5 firearms including a domestic pen gun, 20 rounds of bullets and various weapons manufacturing equipment were recovered. 2 people involved in supplying and selling weapons have been arrested in this incident.
After receiving information about a gang involved in the manufacture and supply of weapons, Hathazari Police Station started surveillance and verification of information. In continuation of this, on August 31, 2026, at approximately 2 am, District Superintendent of Police Md. Masud Alam, BPM Sir, under the direction of Additional Superintendent of Police of Hathazari Circle Kazi Md. Tarek Aziz, SI Fakhrul Islam, SI Ashikur Rahman and SI Nazmul Islam along with their officers and forces conducted a raid in the Mansurabad Colony area of Mirzapur Union.
During the raid, Md. Jamal Hossain Prakash Jamal Mistry (44) and Md. Kabir (47) were arrested. 1 sophisticated pen gun, 4 country-made pistols, 18 pen gun bullets and 2 pistol bullets were recovered from their custody.
Initial interrogation of the arrested persons revealed that domestic firearms were manufactured under the cover of Osman’s CNG auto-rickshaw workshop in Sarkarhat Bazar, Hathazari. Later, these weapons were supplied for sale at various places.
Based on the information received, the police quickly conducted a raid on the workshop located in Sarkarhat Bazar. At that time, various evidences of weapons manufacturing activities were found there and various equipment used in the manufacture of weapons were recovered and seized.
Through the raid, it was possible to find an important source of illegal weapons manufacturing and bring members of the arms supply gang under the law. The police operation to arrest Osman, who is absconding, and other accused involved in this incident is continuing.
The operation and legal activities of the Chittagong District Police will continue to prevent the spread of illegal weapons and eliminate the source of weapons.
