A group of young and old journalists working in Lohagara Upazila has formed a journalist organization called “Lohagara Journalist Parishad”.
Lohagara Journalist Parishad’s debut ceremony was held at Lohagara Battali Halal Dine Restaurant on 17th May’24th Jumaba with cake cutting.
Lohagara Upazila Parishad chairman candidate and freedom fighter Syed Abdul Mabud who hoisted the first flag of freedom in Satkania Lohagara was present as the chief guest in the ceremony held by the brave freedom fighter Alhaj Mohammad Abu Chalem.
Through the opinion and voice vote of all the members, Syed Abdul Mabud, the advisor of the organization and the chief guest of the event, and Alhaj Charwar, the MD of Lohagara City Hospital and the advisor of the organization, announced the name of the 16-member executive committee of the company Lohagara Journalist Parishad. Mohammad Abbas Uddin was nominated as the President and Jahangir Alam as the General Secretary in the Executive Committee.
The remaining members of the executive committee are – Vice President- Mahmudul Haque Chowdhury, Vice President-, Vice President- Shahnewaz Chowdhury (Shahin), Organizing Secretary- Mohammad Salim Uddin Khan, Deputy Organizing Secretary- Mohammad Helal Uddin, Finance Secretary- Shihab Uddin, Legal Affairs Editor-Advocate Mohammad Ilyas, Office Editor- Kausar Alam, Joint Treasurer- Jamal Uddin Hero, Publicity Editor- Mohammad Babul Mia, Women Affairs Editor- Nachima Akhtar Shifa, Executive Members Mohammad Delwar Hossain, Mohammad Abul Kasem and Shahidul Islam respectively.
Alhaj Charwar, MD of Lohagara City Hospital was present as the guest of honor in the event organized by Mohammad Abbas Uddin, co-editor of weekly Maini newspaper and founder of the organization. Samshul Alam, Principal of South Satkania Golam Bari Government Model High School was present as the main speaker. Mohammad Humayun Kabir, general secretary of Lohagara Sechchasevak League, Mohammad Ali and Maulana Obaidullah were present as special guests.
The speakers said – Journalists are the conscience of the nation, the welfare of the country and nation is achieved through their activities. Therefore, he called on the journalists to play a role in the welfare of the country and nation and in building a smart Bangladesh.
