A meeting of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) delegation was held with CID Chief Additional IGP Mr. Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, BPM-Seba on 31 March 2026 at CID Headquarters, Dhaka.
The UNODC delegation was attended by Mr. Marcus Vinicius Paes, Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer (Law Enforcement Expert), Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Section; Ms. Marika McAdam, International Consultant; and Ms. Tasneem Binta Karim, National Programme Coordinator.
The meeting discussed in detail the emerging trend of online scams conducted by criminal gangs involved in human trafficking and labor exploitation, especially in the South-East Asia region. Participants noted that transnational organized crime groups are increasingly using digital platforms to conduct human trafficking and other criminal activities.
The CID Chief appreciated UNODC’s continued support in strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation between law enforcement agencies in Bangladesh and at the regional level. He emphasized the need for a coordinated and effective response system to address the changing and more complex transnational organized crime.
The meeting also had fruitful discussions on future trends, emerging threats and the need to enhance mutual cooperation, strengthen intelligence sharing and expand capacity building activities to address these challenges.
