One arrested with 320,000 Yaba tablets in an operation by the CMP’s DB Special Team-01

Yaba is a deadly scourge; yet, those addicted to it remain consumed by their habit. Shipments of Yaba enter the country, while smugglers siphon vast sums of money abroad—amassing illicit fortunes overnight while remaining within the country.

Despite the government’s firm stance and the administration’s rigorous efforts to suppress this menace, drug traffickers continue to operate, constantly seeking ways to evade law enforcement. Acting on a tip-off, the Special Team-01 of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Detective Branch (South) received information on the night of October 21, 2026, around 8:00 PM, that a truck carrying narcotics was traveling from Cox’s Bazar, passing through the Kotwali area toward Sagarika. Based on this intelligence, the team set up a checkpoint in front of ‘Darbar Engineering’—located at 438 DT Road, opposite the Mansurabad Police Lines in the Mansurabad area (under the jurisdiction of Doublemooring Police Station).

At 1:50 AM, the truck arrived at the designated location and was intercepted by the Special Team-01. During the operation, the driver—identified as Md. Ruhul Amin (45), son of the late Sohrab Ali and Ashia Begum, from Dharmagram (Khondokar Bari), Ward No. 9, Ataikula Union, Ataikula Police Station, Pabna District—was arrested.

Under intensive interrogation, the arrested individual revealed that a hidden compartment, specially constructed beneath the truck’s floor, contained Yaba tablets. Following his disclosure and with his assistance in retrieving them, a total of 320,000 (three hundred and twenty thousand) Yaba tablets were recovered. The truck used to transport the aforementioned Yaba tablets—bearing registration number Jashore Ta-11-2563—has been seized. Legal proceedings are currently underway at the Doublemooring Model Police Station against the arrested individual in connection with this incident.
