Chittagong, April 29, 2026: The newly built Bangladesh Navy Medical College was formally inaugurated by the Honorable Chief of the Navy Admiral M Nazmul Hasan today (29-04-2026) in the Bandartila area adjacent to Banouja Isa Khan in Chittagong. At that time, senior officers of the Navy Headquarters and Chittagong Naval Region, military and civilian guests, eminent personalities from the medical and education sectors, teachers and students, guardians and representatives of various media were present.
Located in the coastal area of Chittagong, this modern medical college is a medical educational institution developed under the supervision of the Bangladesh Navy, which will be operated with modern infrastructure and advanced training facilities. The admission process has already been completed following the policies and standards of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) and Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). With the inauguration, the journey of a 5-year medical education program has begun with the participation of 50 civilian students in the current academic year.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony, the Navy Chief said that this medical college, established in the southern part of Chittagong with a combination of modern medical education, research and training, is an important addition to the health sector. He further mentioned that by producing skilled, ethical and professional doctors, it will increase the medical capacity of the armed forces and at the same time play a helpful role in ensuring improved healthcare for the general public of the country.
The main goal of the Navy Medical College is to produce skilled doctors for the health sector, who will be able to provide effective treatment in all situations at all levels of society. In addition, research and specialized training opportunities will be created in disaster treatment and infectious disease management. Through this, self-reliance in the health system will be achieved and skilled manpower will be developed in medical services in coastal disaster-prone areas.
The institution will conduct quality education programs with a combination of modern laboratories, rich libraries, advanced classrooms and experienced teachers. Preparations have been completed to conduct academic activities with skilled teachers and trained manpower in medical sciences. In addition, it is expected that the Navy Medical College, Chittagong, operated with the discipline and professionalism of the relevant members of the Navy, will make a significant contribution to the health sector of the country.
