Multiple nations have taken similar measures to combat the spread of the new highly infectious COVID-19 variant which was first detected in the UK.

Earlier the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had suspended entry to its lands on December 21 as a precaution against the spread of the new highly infectious COVID-19 variant which appeared in the UK and spread to other EU countries.

Saudi Arabia resumed international flights suspended as a precaution against the new coronavirus variant, and reopened land and sea ports, state news agency SPA reported on Sunday.
