Bangladesh Army Officer Cadet Shakib Ahsan Rifat has successfully completed his training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) in the UK and has been awarded two prestigious international awards, the “International Sword of Honor” and the “International Award”. Her Royal Highness Princess Anne presented him with this award at the passing-out parade held on 12 December 2025.
This is the first time in the history of Bangladesh that an officer cadet has been awarded these two international awards at the same time. 184 cadets from 18 countries including the UK participated in the training. Out of these, 157 are from the UK and 27 are from other countries. Officer Cadet Rifat has been awarded the prestigious “International Sword of Honor” as the best and brightest cadet among all the foreign cadets. In addition, based on the highest overall results in academic and military subjects, he secured third place in the entire course and first place among international cadets, for which he was awarded the “International Award”.
Officer Cadet Rifat participated in cadet training in the United Kingdom from 25 November 2024 to 13 December 2025. He passed HSC from Comilla Cadet College in 2022 and joined the 89th BMA Long-Term Course of Bangladesh Military Academy as an Officer Cadet. In recognition of his outstanding talent and qualifications at BMA, he was sent to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst to participate in a one-year commissioning course.
