Humanitarian Assistance After the Earthquake in Colombia
MD Babul International Reporter Bangladesh,
Ambassador Luis Suarez Hernandez has rejoined the humanitarian relief efforts for the people affected by the earthquake in Colombia and reiterated his commitment to solidarity, cooperation and assistance to those in need.
Ambassador Luis said on his mobile phone that he left Miami Opalka Executive Airport, Miami, Florida, at around 5:00 PM on Saturday, August 15, with relief assistance for Colombia.
This initiative is being led by Red Legacy Aviation, Help Land Foundation and its representative Juan Rojas, who are working together to deliver humanitarian and medical assistance to various regions of Colombia.
As part of this effort, relief and rescue teams are present in Pereira, Cali and Choco and are delivering essential supplies and assistance to the affected people. In addition, 10 doctors are participating in the mission and providing medical care and assistance as needed.
To date, nearly 6 tons of donations and humanitarian assistance have been collected for the affected communities.
The donations departed from Opa-Locka Airport in Florida, where the aid was organized and coordinated for transport to Colombia.
We would like to express our special gratitude to the owner of the plane, Dr. Jatiba, for his generosity and willingness to facilitate the airlift of these donations. His support was essential to ensure that this aid reached the people and communities in need as quickly and effectively as possible.
The humanitarian effort continues, and additional donations and resources are being coordinated to provide further assistance to the affected communities. This work has been made possible by the support of many individuals and organizations who have generously contributed their time, resources, and effort.
We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to all the volunteers who participated in this humanitarian mission. From collecting and organizing the donations to assisting in their transportation and distribution—each of those who contributed played an essential role in making this effort possible.
This effort also includes the support and cooperation of the Colombian Terpel, which is strengthening the necessary coordination to facilitate the reception and distribution of humanitarian assistance.
Ambassador Luis Suarez Hernandez, together with Red Legacy Aviation, Help Land Foundation, Juan Rojas, medical professionals, volunteers, partners and donors, reiterated their commitment to continue supporting humanitarian and relief efforts in Colombia.
Thank you to everyone who made this assistance possible. The solidarity will continue. Colombia is not alone.
