Dhaka, 16 December 2025 (Tuesday): Today, 16 December, the Great Victory Day was celebrated with due dignity and enthusiasm. To make this day more glorious and attractive, a pleasant fly past, parajump and special aerobatic display were held at the National Parade Square, Tejgaon under the supervision of the Armed Forces with the support of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs. In addition, a combined band was performed by the Armed Forces at the event. In addition, today, the Armed Forces Orchestra performed music at Manik Mia Avenue adjacent to the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in Dhaka and bands performed in limited numbers in areas adjacent to the cantonments/bases of the Armed Forces located in various districts of Bangladesh outside Dhaka. Meanwhile, the Air Force has conducted limited flypasts (in Khulna, Bagerhat, Kushtia, Natore, Bogra, Chittagong city and Faujdarhat areas, Cox’s Bazar and Matarbari areas).
On the 54th anniversary of the victory, a total of 54 paratroopers, including Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority Chowdhury Ashikur Rahman and 53 members of the armed forces, landed from the sky to the ground with the national flag of Bangladesh through a free fall jump. Which is the highest ever and this record has not been recorded in Guinness World Records till date. Since this initiative of Bangladesh under the supervision of the armed forces was successful, for the first time the record of free fall jump with so many flags will be recorded in Guinness World Records for Bangladesh. Undoubtedly, it is a historic and epoch-making step for Bangladesh. On the other hand, it will play a special role in promoting the identity of Bangladesh’s capabilities in the international arena as well as improving the image of the country. At the same time, this event will instill a sense of national pride and self-identity among all Bangladeshi citizens living in the country and abroad. It is particularly noteworthy that on this historic day, the last 6 out of 54 paratroopers (numbered 49 to 54) paratroopers paratroopered wearing the nameplates of the 6 Bangladeshi peacekeepers who were killed at the UN base in Abyei, Sudan, instead of their own nameplates.
The Honorable Chief Advisor to the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present as the chief guest of the event. In addition, members of the Advisory Board, foreign diplomats posted in Bangladesh, heads of the armed forces, high-ranking officials of the Bangladesh Government, successors of all the heroes of the Liberation War, people injured in the July-August mass uprising of the students and the public, students and students of various educational institutions and BNCC cadets and other distinguished persons were present along with a significant number of visitors. The event is open to the public.
Meanwhile, to celebrate the day, designated Navy ships at BIWTC ports in Chittagong, Khulna, Mongla and Payra, Dhaka’s Sadarghat, Pagla (Narayanganj) and Barisal are open for public viewing from 12:00 AM to 16:00 PM. In addition, other museums of the three services, including the Military Museum, are open for public viewing without tickets.
