Celebrating the third anniversary of the daily Phultala Pratidin with pomp

One of the most popular local daily Phultala Pratidin in the southern region, a program was organized on its third anniversary on Saturday (13 September 2025) at 9 am at the Phultala Upazila Parishad Auditorium.

At the beginning of the program, the Holy Quran was recited and the national anthem was played. Then, the formal activities of the program began by observing a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of the great liberation war and the martyrs of the 24th mass uprising.

The program, moderated by Shahadat Hossain, was attended by former MP Khulna-2 and Khulna-5 parliamentary candidate Mohammad Ali Asgar Lobi as the chief guest. Md. Sumon Sardar, publisher and editor of the daily Phultala Pratidin, presided over the program. Besides, Daily Fultala Pratidin Acting Editor GM Shahidul Islam, Co-Editor Mir Dinar Hossain, News Editor Nasim Reza, CIN TV Editor Abu Hamza Badhan, Bangladesh Mofusal Journalists Society Central Vice Chairman Mirza Ghalib Ujjal, Vice Chairman Golam Rabbani, Joint Secretary General Md. Zubayer, Joint Secretary General Ujjal Hossain Pradhan, Co-Organizing Secretary Md. Shakil Hasan, and various district and upazila representatives of Daily Fultala Pratidin and local media workers were present.

Chief guest Mohammad Ali Asgar Lobi said, “Fultala Pratidin has gained the trust of the local people within a short period of time of its establishment. It has set an example of independent and responsible journalism. I hope that the newspaper will continue to work for the welfare of the society and the country in the future by standing for truth and justice. In addition, it is necessary to quickly enact a journalist protection law to ensure a safe environment for the country’s journalists, so that journalists can provide information without fear.”

Abu Hamza Badhan was present as a discussant at the event. He said, “Local newspapers like Phultala Pratidin not only provide news but also attract the attention of the people by highlighting the problems and developmental activities of the society. This initiative is very important in improving the quality of journalism in the southern region. However, there needs to be a specific policy to determine the qualifications to maintain the quality of journalism.”

Publisher and Editor of Daily Phultala Pratidin Md. Sumon Sardar said, “Our goal is not only to provide news, but to strengthen the media through increasing public awareness and positive changes in the society. The anniversary of its establishment is a new inspiration for us. We are committed to serving the people of Phultala and the southern region in the coming days as well.”

The speakers at the event extended their best wishes for the progress of Daily Phultala Pratidin and discussed the contribution of the newspaper among local journalists, students and social workers. They expressed hope that the daily will become more well-organized in the future and play an important role in improving the quality of journalism in the southern region.

In the closing ceremony, crests of honor were distributed among the journalists and guests present and certificates of honor were distributed for special contributions to journalism.

The overall management of the program was carried out by Md. Oliullah, ICT Affairs Editor of Daily Fultala Pratidin. The program ended with a luncheon for all the guests.
