The Norwegian Ambassador Gulbrandsen congratulated the State Minister on assuming office and expressed confidence that the long-standing and friendly relations between Bangladesh and Norway will deepen further.

The Bangladesh Foreign Ministry met this week on September 10.
At the outset, the State Minister expressed deep condolences on the passing of His Majesty King Harald V. He also extended warm congratulations to His Majesty King Haakon VIII on his accession to the throne of Norway.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the long-standing partnership between Bangladesh and Norway and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, renewable energy, maritime affairs, fisheries, climate change, green transformation, technology transfer and environmentally friendly ship recycling. The State Minister highlighted the importance of high-level exchange of visits to increase the visibility and momentum of bilateral relations. He specifically sought support for expanding and accelerating Norway’s investment in Bangladesh’s renewable energy sector.

The Ambassador commended the government’s efforts in democratic reforms and expressed Norway’s interest in working together on renewable energy initiatives. He also commended Bangladesh’s generous efforts in providing shelter to the Rohingya and reiterated Norway’s commitment to work closely with Bangladesh in multilateral fora towards their safe, voluntary, dignified and sustainable repatriation to Myanmar.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the Bangladesh-Norway partnership bilaterally and multilaterally to enhance cooperation on various issues of mutual interest.
